  Mark Deeks works as an arranger, pianist, accompanist, composer, musical director, teacher and singer-songwriter. Chickenshed is a theatre company. We work using an inclusive creative process which means everyone is welcome, and everyone is valued.  


The Kidz R Us Theatre group in St. Ives was set up 15 years ago and began life as a one-off performance to raise money for the Save the Children Fund at the Guildhall in St. Ives. Philip Barnett and Margaret Banfield from the local operatic society assembled a small group of brave kids to stage a single concert but it was such a success that the audience begged for more of the same and so Kidz R Us was born.  
The National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), founded in 1899, is the main representative body for amateur theatre in the UK. It has a membership of some 2500 amateur/community theatre groups and 3000 individual enthusiasts throughout the UK, staging musicals, operas, plays, concerts and pantomimes in a wide variety of performing venues, ranging from the country's leading professional theatres to village halls.

The Priory Theatre club was formed in 1946 by Miss Ria Thompson and the first plays were performed in Holy Saviour's Parish Hall.

After many successful and happy years it was possible for the club to find a more permanent home and The Wesleyan Chapel in Percy Street was purchased in 1972.

It is a source of great pride that we own our very own theatre and it is due to the enterprise of our founder members that we are in this happy position. Visitors describe the theatre as "a little jewel" and over the years we have undertaken (read more....)
